<p>Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is the most common application of immunostaining. It is widely used in the disgnosis of abnormal cells such as those found in cancerous tumors. Intraoperative pathological diagnosis is also important in selecting suitable surgery for cancer patients. We performed intraoperative diagnosis of 830 cases in Akita University Hospital., with a novel method of rapid-immunohistochemistory (R-IHC) using an alternating current electric field. The results were very good, R-IHC detected an objective evidence that were undetected using conventional HE staining. So we can diagnose degree of malignancy, histological type of cancer, and lymph node metastasis more accurately.</p>

<p>We aim to develop innovative stirring technology (electric field mixing (EFM)) applied abrasive control technique with AC electric field. This technique allows for stirring without contact by applying AC electric field to droplets. This technique was applied to intraoperative immunohistochemical staining. Under EFM showed antigen-antibody reaction time in immunohistochemical staining can be shortened from 90 minutes of conventional method to 10 minutes. In this study, EFM examined the mechanism which makes antigen-antibody reaction of an immunohistochemical staining quicken. As a result, we obtained that it has the mechanism which a reaction time of an immunohistochemical staining is shorten because antigens and antibodies improve to increase the frequencies of contact, and further antibodies disperse and becomes easy to react to antigens under EFM. compared with conventional method.</p>

<p>By applied electric field mixing (EFM) showed antigen-antibody reaction time in an immunohistochemical staining can be shortened from 90 minutes of conventional method to 10 minutes. As a result, we obtained that it has the mechanism which a reaction time of an immunohistochemical staining is shorten because antigen and antibody improve to increase the frequencies of contact under EFM compared with conventional method. Further, we investigated the effect of AC electric field is applied on antibody. As a result, it found that by applied AC electric field to antibody liquid, antibody dispersed and stabilized, therefore, staining quality is improved.</p>
