1889.7.28熊本地震の熊本市における被害に関する文献調査

<p>The authors have performed literature surveys on July 28, 1889 Kumamoto earthquake taking an opportunity of the occurrence of 2016 event in Kumamoto Prefecture. In the previous papers, reconnaissance reports, newspapers and archived Kumamoto prefectural documents at that time were surveyed. In this paper, detailed damages in Kumamoto city are picked up from these documents. Damage distribution and each building details are disclosed and plotted on a map newly reproduced from the topological map and street map at that time. Damage concentrations in northern and southern districts and ground failures along the old river traces are extracted.</p>

<p>The 1872 Hamada earthquake occurred just after the Meiji revolution and caused damage in present Shimane Prefecture, the western part of Honshu faced to the Japan Sea. At that time modern seismology was not started yet and the first scientific paper on this earthquake was appeared after 12 years and detailed field investigations were done 40 years later. In this paper, we carried out literature surveys on this event and traced the process of the establishment of the total damage features and distributions. The effect of snow was also discussed because of her snowy location and occurrence season.</p>

<p>The authors have been continuing literature surveys on damage appeared in Akita prefecture due to earthquakes occurred in and around her territory. In this paper, the 1964 Niigata earthquake is picked up, which is one of the biggest earthquakes occurred in Japan Sea side and caused various damage to Akita in spite of longer epicentral distance. Literature survey is performed utilizing reports and newspaper articles at that time. Five deceased can be traced in detail. Damage to buildings, roads, railways, lifeline facilities and so on is revealed. Recovering process of lifelines are also listed and discussed.</p>

<p>The authors have been performed literature surveys on July 28, 1889 Kumamoto earthquake taking an opportunity of the occurrence of 2016 event in Kumamoto Prefecture. Processes of collecting damage data and summing up were traced using those official documents. Damage statistics appeared in various reports were also discussed based on their origins.</p>

<p>The authors have been continuing literature surveys on inland damaging earthquakes in Akita prefecture. The 2011 off Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake also caused damage in Akita prefecture. This type of mega earthquake in the Pacific Ocean have been occurred repeatedly. In this paper, the 1968 Tokachi-oki earthquake is picked up as a typical one and literature survey is performed with reports and newspaper articles at that time. Several damages in human casualties, buildings, railways, roads and so on are revealed. Induced effects to Akita prefecture are also listed up and discussed.</p>

<p>The 1927 Kita-tango earthquake occurred under heavy snow conditions. The authors surveyed snow effects to this earthquake disaster through newspaper articles at that time. In this paper, more considerations are carried out using photographical materials appeared in the reconnaissance reports, scientific papers, newspaper and graphical magazines. Collected photos are classified and listed. Snow effects to buildings and infrastructures, evacuation life on the snow and relief activities under snowy weather are discussed through visual materials.</p>

The affected area due to the 1889 Kumamoto earthquake is over rapped to that of the recent 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. It is important to learn from the former event for understanding earthquake disaster aspects. Literature survey on reconnaissance and related reports for this earthquake was performed. At that time, many field surveys were done in spite of the era of the dawn of modern seismology. Gathered documents were classified into several categories and interpreted. Reconnaissance items and damage statistics were also discussed.

The 1914 Akita Senboku earthquake was one of the most damaging inland events in Akita prefecture and the authors have been continued literature surveys on this earthquake. This time, archived local governmental documents of former Osawago village were newly found. This village was located in the most damaged area. In this paper, these archived documents are rearranged in time series and listed in a table. Damage responses by local government are revealed on the various processes in damage inspections, rescue, emergency relief, distribution of disaster donations, recovery of lifelines and reconstruction of damaged facilities.
