Hierarchical geofencing for location-aware generative audio tours

Abstract
This study aims to restructure a location-aware audio guide mobile application designed for urban walking tours. Traditional points of interest-based geofencing, which triggers automatic guide delivery as users approach specific locations, struggle to provide continuous and consistent storytelling in areas with limited notable spots, thereby diminishing tourist experiences. To address this challenge, we propose a hierarchical geofencing framework that forms the basis for seamless audio guide experiences through scale-based feature switching and the definition of story serialization rules. In addition, this study proposes geofence-to-conversation techniques utilizing text-to-speech engines and large language models to dynamically adapt guide document resources to dynamic tourists’ movements. A demonstration conducted in a historic urban park area highlighted that the guide generation time in both English and Japanese guide modes is significantly shorter than playback duration, confirming technical feasibility for seamless regional storytelling. Furthermore, we define metrics such as starting time errors, ending time errors, undelivered time to evaluate the real-time performance of location-aware audio guide applications. The experimental results demonstrate effective strategies for geofence configuration and operations, enhancing user experiences in our generative audio tours. This intelligent guide approach, designed for complex urban environments, is expected to enrich tourism and foster regional learning. -

<p>To support the design of walking routes based on tourists’ demand, we have attempted to construct a digital feedback system. This system includes methods for creating pedestrian flow heatmaps for regional resources (discovery of potential tourist resources) and scoring recommended walking routes (quantitative evaluation of current walking routes). As mobile devices are widely used today, the accumulation of GPS location data can be a feasible way to capture pedestrians’ city-scale movements and visualize people flows in the region at a low cost. However, recording their trajectory frequently and continuously leads to a lack of storage space at high speed and difficulties in identifying popular spots and streets from clusters in the GPS heatmap. This research extends our prior work on GPS trajectory articulation to an experimental study in the development of local tourism. This method employs various mobile sensor data to eliminate points of remaining stationary using acceleration data and abstracts indoor points with GPS horizontal accuracy data, achieving a compact and reliable dataset. Section 2 illustrates the conceptual diagram of our mobile collaborative solution:(A) designers input recommended points of interest and walking paths through the web-based editor;(B) self-guided tour applications collect walkers’ mobile sensor data and transmit their logs after the articulation process;(C) the pedestrian flow reporting system generates spot-level and path-level heatmaps with the semantic filtering (e.g., indoor staying and user content) from the dataset. The reporting system also plots the gaps between the designer’s recommended routes and the actual selection by users, called route scoring. In Section 3, using a local tourism business in Akita City as an example, we verify the superiority of our proposal by comparing (i) tracking data generated by trajectory articulation and (ii) tracking data only by GPS location data from the perspective of reliability and compactness. Finally, Section 4 reports that the introduction of our framework can provide deep insights into the improvement of walking route recommendations.</p>

With the ageing of society, the number of households with older individuals or couples living alone is increasing. An “ageing-in-place” approach allows older adults to continue to live at home and receive help only when needed. However, this approach is insufficient for emergencies, such as falls, as well as for individuals with gradually deteriorating health conditions, such as frailty. Unexpected accidents significantly reduce the quality of life (QoL) of older adults. This paper proposes a new framework, the mobility ubiquitous sensor edge environment (MUS3E), to digitally transform ordinary houses to detect the movement of older individuals throughout their home environment and to notify family members and care providers of residents’ health status and safety information. The framework can be easily and inexpensively installed in any home, transforming an ordinary house into a smart home with an automated function for monitoring older residents. It uses ambient sensors such as passive infrared ray sensors to automatically measure health conditions by measuring factors such as walking speed. Residents need not interact with or control the system and can go about their daily lives. Since the sensors used in this system are mass-produced consumer products, they are inexpensive and easily replaceable, as there are many alternatives. In this study, we were able to demonstrate the practically and feasibility of this framework using a prototype that uses open architecture Internet of Things (IoT) software (Debian GNU/Linux 11, Arduino 1.8.19, ESP8266 2.7.4, ESP32 1.0.6, PubSubClient 2.8.0, ESPPerfectTime 0.3.0, mosquitto 2.0.11) components to digitally transform the living environment of older individuals.

<p>Offloading which means the enhancement of link capacity is performed to accommodate ever-increasing network traffic. We study determination of enhancement links effective even if there are many links showing the high same link utilization ratio. And also, it is desirable that the link enhancement is performed on a stepwise link pair which has the greatest effect of improving congestion and achieves an effect each time it is increased by one. In this paper, first, we propose a determination method of offloading link section and its effectiveness is verified. Second, we propose and discuss a stepwise link decision method that maintains the effective improvement of congestion reduction.</p>

<p>We propose traffic engineering which exists together with metric base QoS routing. In shortest paths routing, particular several links tends to be congested. TE in our proposal is adopted only to the specified area, TE area, consisting of congested links. So route of traffic which does not transmit through TE area have no change. We realize this TE routing with metric base, which means all routes are determined as shortest paths according to link costs. We formulate this as LP network problem (primary problem) and dual problem for derivation of link costs. Simulation results confirm that proposed method achieves metric base QoS routing without congestion.</p>

<p>We propose a method that addresses the shortest path problem in estimating network traffic distribution when a network infrastructure is damaged at the time of disaster. It uses link costs that are different from those used prior to the disaster. There are three assumptions: (1) traffic whose source and destination points lie outside the disaster-affected area do not use damaged networks, (2) Traffic that traverses the border of the disaster-affected area uses at most one link, (3) traffic that is related to the disaster-affected area does not exit disaster area. We use different link costs from those used prior to the disaster time, and the shortest paths under the link costs that satisfy conditions (1), (2), and (3) above. In this paper, we introduce a method for setting link costs and adapt it to yield a real networking model. We set traffic patterns and a disaster-affected area and carry out simulations. The simulation results confirm that it is possible to simulate the changes in volume and the distribution of traffic owing on each link.</p>

ディフレクションルーチングを用いたバッファレスルーチング ネットワークの実現可能性に関する検討

近年,急激に増加しているネットワークトラヒックに対応するため全光ネットワークの実現が期待されている.しかしながら,重要な構成要素である光パケットルータは,パケットの衝突を回避するために必要な光バッファの実用化がネックとなりいまだに実用化されていない.そこで,本研究では一つのソリューションとして光パケットバッファをもたないバッファレスルータによる全光ネットワークの実現可能性について検討を行った.バッファレスルータにおいてパケットの衝突を回避するために,空いている出方路へパケットを迂回させるディフレクションルーチングを用いた.複数の最短経路をもつ格子状ネットワークトポロジーと格子上にあるルータの座標を利用した座標ルーチングについて,ネットワークの性能評価の指標としてパケット廃棄率と平均ホップ数をコンピュータシミュレーションにより求めた.その結果,座標ルーチングのようにできるだけ最短経路に近づける方式に加えて波長分割多重化方式を用いることでノード次数を実質的に増やし,ある程度実用的なスループット特性が得られることを明らかにした.

本論文は,秋田県大潟村を適用対象と想定した農業支援のための情報ネットワーク構築に関する検討結果を述べるものである.当面の実現目標は,リアルタイムビデオ信号も伝送しうる10 Mbpsオーダの通信ネットワークであり,現状では電力供給手段のない圃場全体をいかに安価にカバーするかが,最大の研究課題である.具体的には,IEEE 802.11 b/g規格の公衆無線LAN用機器と小型風力/太陽光発電システムを用いた系を考え,現地での気象条件や地理的条件を考慮したシステム設計法を検討した.さらに,検討結果の妥当性を検証するため,実験システムを大潟村に構築し,実機による動作実験を行った.技術的には,IEEE 802.11 b/g規格の機器を用いて通信速度10 Mbps以上での長距離無線伝送を達成することが最も大きな課題であったが,3区間構成のマルチホップ無線伝送によって,排水路の水位を測定するための水位計と監視用ビデオカメラの情報を,約8 km離れたサーバに正常に伝送できることを確認した.
