Robust Constant-pulse-rate Electronic Damping in Half-step Mode of a Two-phase Hybrid Stepping Motor
K. Matsuo
IEEJ Journal of Industry Applications ( IEEJ Journal of Industry Applications ) 14 ( 1 ) 131 - 132 2025.01 [Refereed]
Research paper (journal) Single author
To suppress residual oscillation when positioning the rotor of a stepping motor, constant-pulse-rate electronic damping in full-step mode can achieve suppression by tuning a single parameter according to attached inertial loads. However, this damping technique exhibits insufficient robustness to uncertainty. This article proposes a novel damping technique that enhances robustness by being extended to half-step mode. Experiments demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed damping.

A Sensorless Tuning Method for Back-phasing Damping of a Stepping Motor

Research paper (journal) Single author
Stepping motors experience oscillation when positioning. A proposed sensorless tuning method for back-phasing damping can determine the appropriate excitation times to suppress the oscillation numerically according to added inertial load conditions after the motor model is estimated from the winding voltage. The driving experiments demonstrate suppression using the excitation times tuned for added loads.
