東西冷戦期インドネシアに於いて、インドネシア人エリートの米国留学、またエリート同士のフィクサーとして名をはせたギィ・ポーカーの生い立ちと、彼の学問背景および政治家との関係を検証するとともに、当時の学術界が如何に政治と密着な関係があったかを詳らかにした。本研究は、単なる過去のこととして片づけられるものではなく、現在も何らかの形で見出せる学問倫理を問う問題である。

インドネシア人小説家プラムディアが政治犯として流刑に処している間、流刑地で聞き取りをした、少女たちの記録を慰安婦が政治化された21世紀になり、彼の当時のナラティブとは異なる、意味が付加されて活動家によって発刊された。本論は、小説がスハルト時代の批判として書かれたものであったことを、再評価しながら、時代によって付加される意味の問題を問いている。

日本占領期のインドネシアにおいて、インドネシア語の小説も数多く出版されていたが、戦後独立戦争を経過するとともに、忘れ去られてしまった。本論文では、1945年出版された小説に焦点をあて、占領期直後のインドネシア社会の民族間の摩擦を経過し、徐々に一体化していくという話を紹介。小説から当時のインドネシア社会の変化と人々の民族意識の変化を考察した。
